Mr. Paris Rutherford

Paris Rutherford is Principal of Catalyst Urban Development, a Dallas-based real estate company engaged in the planning, finance and development of transit-oriented, urban housing and mixed-use places. Catalyst has arranged over $2.3 Billion in transactions since 2009, specializes in non-traditional finance and is currently developing over $400 Million in phased projects. Nearly half of these developments include notable public/private partnerships focused on urban redevelopment and suburban reinvention.
Catalyst’s mission is the creation of Great Places as defined by their economic, placemaking and social success. As an indicator of these efforts, Catalyst was the recent recipient of the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Impact Award and North Central Texas Council of Governments’ (NCTCOG) CLIDE Award for development excellence in their past two awards programs.
Mr. Rutherford has over 25 years experience planning successful strategies for such north Texas destinations as Shops at Legacy and Legacy West (Plano,TX), AddisonCircle (Addison,TX), West7thDistrict (FortWorth,TX) and Uptown Dallas. Beyond the north Texas region, Paris has worked on successful redevelopment efforts in Uptown Denver, the Woodlands Town Center, Old Town Pasadena, Midtown Houston, Sacramento’s Northside, Atlanta’s Midtown, Phoenix’s Uptown, and others. Prior to forming Catalyst, Paris was President of Woodmont Investment Company, Practice Leader of RTKL Associates’ Global Planning Practice, and Director of RTKL itself.
The recipient of over 95 national, regional and local awards, Mr. Rutherford’s work has been published in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Urban Land Magazine. Among other venues, he has spoken at the National Press Club, ULI, ICSC, and been featured on CNBC’s Closing Bell and PBS’s News Hour. Paris is a graduate of the University of Southern California and Harvard University.
